Young Food Professionals (YFP) Fellowship: Empowering the Next Generation of African Food Leaders
Africa’s food sector is evolving rapidly, and with it comes a critical need for skilled, visionary, and inclusive leadership. The Young Food Professionals (YFP) Fellowship, implemented under the Advancing Nutrition Through Female-led Food Processing (ANTFem) program in partnership with the Gates Foundation, is a bold initiative designed to identify, nurture, and position talented young professionals to transform Africa’s food ecosystem.
Through a combination of technical training, mentorship, industry immersion, and professional development, the fellowship prepares participants to take on leadership roles across the food value chain. The program prioritises practical skills and strategic thinking, ensuring fellows are ready to address complex challenges—from food safety and quality control to sustainable production, innovation, and market growth.
A Launch to Remember
The inaugural YFP Fellowship launch took place in Lagos, bringing together industry leaders, policy influencers, mentors, and the first cohort of exceptional fellows.
The launch was widely celebrated for its visionary conversations and high-impact networking, highlighting the urgent need to accelerate women’s and young professionals’ participation in leadership across Africa’s food sector.
